Years 3 and 5 had a fantastic time on Tuesday with their Science Dome experience! The sessions delivered by Sue to both year groups were really inspiring and helped consolidate prior learning as well as introduce new learning.

Year 3 learned about shadows, UV rays, light pollution, opaque, transparent and translucent materials along with reflection and refraction. They also learned about the differences between the speed of light and sound.

Year 5 learned about the constellations, moon landings, planets and their moons, the rotation of the sun and the orbiting planets.

Here is what some of the children thought:

Year 3

Luca- I liked all the pictures, the stars made particles in the water when it went dark an it looked really cool.

Maisie- We learnt different things, the favourite thing that I learnt was that there are little germs in the sea. When the waves wash up on land they get agitated and make white particles in the water.

Rebecca- I liked it because the lady had a laser pen to point to things with and it was really dark.

Year 5

Andrew said ‘It was cool seeing space all around and it was fun to see everything spread out above me when we watched videos.’

Emily agreed ‘It was amazing, especially when we were learning about the stars and how the Ancient Egyptians used them for navigation.’

‘I thought it was brilliant the way that we could see what was in space right at that second!’ said Amarah

Harry said ‘I loved the planets spinning around me and the videos of Neil and Buzz on the moon because that scared me!’
