On Tuesday 27th September our KS2 cross country squad went to Strawberry Fields Primary for the first round of the Garforth Schools cross country championships. There was a tremendous atmosphere on the course with many parents coming to watch. This was the first time the event had been held at Strawberry Fields so the course was new to all the squad.

It was wonderful to see such determination and spirit from Green Lane’s runners. Everyone gave it their very best and showed real grit, especially as the pain usually kicked in towards the end of their race!

Special mention must go to the following teams who won their event:

Year 3 girls, Year 4 boys, Year 5 boys and Year 6 girls

Here is what some of our Year 3 runners thought of the event:

Zachary J – “I loved it because I got a well done!”

Edith J – “I liked it because it was my first ever go (running)”

Daisy H – “I enjoyed running with other schools!”

I am very pleased to announce that Green Lane were overall winners of the event! A great way for the school to start the sporting year! Thanks to Mr Wales and Green Lane staff who helped support the event and well done to all the boys and girls in our cross-country squad on a fantastic afternoon running.
