Throughout school this week, classes have been enjoying a variety of technology. Children have been using search engines, tablets and cameras alongside learning about Online Safety.

Year 5 and 6 started the week by using Python Programming to control a turtle.

“It was intriguing and fun when we had a competition to see who could programme the turtle to get out the maze fastest,” Rhiley – Y6

“I thought Mike taught my class something new that we wouldn’t normally have the chance to learn,” Macey – Y5

Year 3 and 4 controlled sprites using Scratch Programming. They also created a logon so they can access their project at home at: www.scratch.mit.edu or using the Scratch App

“My morning was really fun and enjoyable! I learned some new rules in coding and programming. I liked it because it was really fun and you can do lots of things on the computer!” Erin – Y4

We were very lucky to have Techy Tots bring in lots of different robots which introduced Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and 2 to a variety of programming methods.

“I thought it was going to be fun but it was better. I loved all the robots. My favourite robot was the caterpillar because it could go under you. Once it’s gone under you, you can join the back. It was so much fun,” Amarah – Y2

Nursery children were using iPads to take their own photos of their friends and favourite parts of Nursery.

“I loved taking photos with the iPad because I can’t do it at home,” George – Nursery
