Tuesday saw our athletics team take part in one of the most fiercely competitive events in the Garforth Schools sports calendar, the Yr 5/6 Indoor Athletics Competition. All of the team took part in both track and field events (including javelin, chest push, standing triple jump and long jump) as well as relays and an obstacle race. The children had trained very hard for the event, both at the after-school club on a Wednesday with Mr Wales as well as during their morning and lunchtime breaks leading up the event. Everyone rose to the occasion and performed to a very high level. We were thrilled to be crowned champions at the end of the competition, pushing St. Benedicts into second place. We were very proud of the children, as were the many parents who came to watch. We are already looking forward to the next stage of the competition at the end of November!
