Home Learning for Pupils

We love receiving examples of home learning at Green Lane. If you have written, drawn, built or recorded any learning at home, send it to your child’s class teacher, via Class Dojo or Parentshare (EYFS). Please remember to bring your work into school as well. That way we can display and celebrate it in our shared areas around the school.

Each Year group have knowledge organisers for reading which share key vocabulary and themes throughout the text. We also have these for each of our missions which contain the essential knowledge that children will acquire throughout the mission, in line with the National Curriculum expectations.

At GLPA we expect all children to read to an adult at home daily. Reading fluently and with understanding is the key to all other areas of the curriculum. We would like the adult at home to write in the reading record book each time they hear their child read. Children should also record their own, independent reading in the reading diary.

We expect children to practise their weekly spelling and times tables set by class staff. This can be done via TTRS or Spelling Shed games, as well as any other non-screen based activities.

In addition, there is a menu of activities linked to our Green Lane Academy Missions. The children may complete as many as they wish. Homework is not marked, but it is valued and celebrated within the class and around school.
