After weeks of rehearsals the day had finally arrived! Young voices choir were to perform at Sheffield arena!

After arriving and finding our seats, we were told there were 5031 children in total in the choir! WOW! What an experience. After rehearsing all afternoon, at 6pm the doors opened and the audience finally started to arrive. With much anticipation, the lights dimmed and we all stood to sing. The arena erupted into what sounded like one voice! The young voices choir! The sound was amazing.

With performances from Ruti (Winner of the voice 2018), Tony Hadley from Spandau Ballet, Urban Strides and The Shires, the show lasted 2 hours. We sang many songs including a Queen medley, Best of the West, Frightfest and a Pop Medley. The audience loved it! So did the choir! What a fabulous day.

What the children said:

On Monday 13th of January 2020 we went to Sheffield Arena for young voices. It was an unbelievable experience for all of us. There was 5031 children in the choir and 150 schools. That was not including the supportive audience. Let us tell you about this sensational opportunity.

When we arrived, we were shown to our seats where we rehearsed for three hours. After that, we ate tea whilst the Urban Striders danced. Then the show began, we sang a series of songs from country music to the pop medley.

As a surprise, we had a few guests such as Tony Hadley a famous musician, The Shires, a country duet and finally, Ruti, the winner of The Voice 2018! There was also backup dancers who had performed for Rhianna in the past. Urban Striders are a street dance group that consists of eight dancers all performing together.

In conclusion, we would all like to say a massive thank you to Mrs Waddington who worked hard to get us to that point. Don’t forget the other teachers Mrs Martin, Mrs Manning and Mrs Carlisle for supporting us to get through the last stage. Also a huge thank you to all of the parents and carers that came along.
