On Wednesday 8th March our Year 3 boys cross country team took part in the West Yorkshire Games at Temple Newsam. This is the highest level of school sport and the boys were up against schools from Kirklees, Calderdale, Bradford, Leeds and Wakefield. In good running conditions the boys excelled against the high standard of competition and ran the race of their lives. Each team member moved up through the field as the race progressed and managed to somehow find a sprint finish at the end! The result was that the team came an amazing 3rd place and won a bronze medal! It was such a proud moment for not only the boys but also their parents and grandparents. It was a very special moment for Green Lane and the children should be immensely proud of their efforts!
Here is what some of them said:

Finley – “I was really shocked when we won a medal!”

Oliver – “It was exciting and enjoyable.”

Max B – “It was fun because we got to the finals and won a medal!”

Max McF – “It was very fun and enjoyable because lots of people joined in.”

Sebastian R – “It was quite stressful since it was 1200m long!”
