Friday was a very proud day for Green Lane as two members of staff and three of our children headed to Harrogate for the Yorkshire Primary P.E and Sport Premium Awards where we had been nominated as the West Yorkshire winner in the Broader Sporting Experience Award category.

At what was a very glamorous event, we were up against three other nominees from across the county. The judging panel comprised of leading experts from Ofsted, AfPE (Association for P.E) , Sheffield Hallam University and the Sheffield Institute for Education. All the winners names were tightly sealed in golden envelopes and kept a safely guarded secret right up until they were announced! When it came to the judges announcing our category winner we were all absolutely ecstatic when they said the words ‘Green Lane Primary Academy!’ Our new plaque is proudly on display above our P.E noticeboard near the main entrance.

We are proud to be able our children such a breadth of sporting experience but it is only possible because of the incredible commitment and devotion so many GLPA staff show towards P.E and School Sport during the year – they really do make it happen. I want to give a special mention and a big thank you to Mrs Greaves who works incredibly hard behind the scenes  with the admin for P.E and Sport making broader experiences a reality for all GLPA children.
