How do I contact the academy?

  1. Telephone: 0113 212 7107, our switchboard is open Monday – Friday from 8.30-16.30. You are able to leave a voice message outside of these hours.

What do I do if my child is absent from school?

  1. Please telephone 0113 212 7107 to report absence, before 8.45am on the first day of absence.
  2. Please contact the academy on each day of absence.

What do I do if my child has a medical appointment during the school day?

Wherever possible, appointments should be made outside of school hours, however where this is not possible please inform the academy in advance of the appointment. This can be a letter, an e-mail or a telephone call. You will also need to provide a copy of the appointment card to ensure the absence is authorised. You will then need to collect your child from the school office at the allocated time.

What do I do if my child needs to take medication during the school day?

Please inform the academy in writing of the medication, when it needs to be taken and the dosage. Medicines are kept in the school office.

Longer term or more complex medical conditions will require a Health Care Plan to be completed. Please contact the academy to arrange a meeting.

What do I do if my child has an injury (eg a broken/ fractured limb) and will need additional assistance in school?

Please contact the academy and we will arrange a meeting to assess your child’s needs and put any necessary support in place.

What do I do if my child needs time off during term time for exceptional circumstances?

Please complete a Leave of Absence During Term Time form (available from main reception) and send it with supporting evidence to the Head of Academy. A meeting will then be arranged. Please note that leave of absence for holidays will not be granted. Further information can be found in our attendance policy, please ask if you would like a copy. 

How do I pay for school dinners, music lessons, visits etc?

We operate a cashless system in school so all items are purchased through Parentpay.  On joining Green Lane Academy your child will have received an introductory letter to Parentpay with login and password details for you to set this up.  If you don’t have this information or are having any difficulties in registering and setting up on Parentpay, please phone the office on 0113 212 7107 and someone will assist you.  

Who is the academy’s uniform supplier and where can I buy uniform?

Green Lane’s Academy’s official uniform stockist is SPT uniform, 115 Main Street, Garforth LS25 1AF. We have some second hand uniform in school – it has all been washed prior to display. The second hand uniform is displayed in the KS1 main entrance, parents can browse this between 8.45 and 9.15 each morning. If you have any questions or would like to access the second hand uniform at other times please contact Mrs Hector.

How do I find out how well my child is doing at school?

Parents’ evening for each year group are held twice a year and a written report is issued in the summer term. Your child also has a planner /reading diary where positive comments can be written and we request that parents check their child’s planner weekly to monitor homework and communications. Green Lane also holds Open Door lessons where parents can come in and observe lessons and their child’s participation. If any parent would like any further information please contact your child’s teacher for an additional meeting.

What if I have a concern and need to see the Head?

If you have concerns these may be able to be addressed by your child’s class teacher or the phase leader. Mrs Carlisle is happy to see parents at any time so please ring the school office if you would like to make an appointment.
